Sakura Bloom at DisneySakura Bloom at DisneySakura Bloom at DisneyBack to work! Our Disney vacation was a very needed one for our family.

Like anyplace I go now, I hunt down babywearers. Saw dozens of Baby Bjorn/Snuglis (only newborns of course). Out of the more interesting slings, I saw one gray stretchy wrap that I didn’t recognize, a Solstice Hotslings, a puffy Nojo ring sling, and on our second to last day, the stripes of an Inka caught my eye. Running up to the woman, I said “Is that an Inka Storch?” (knowing full well it was a Storchenwiege wrap)

Turned out she was also from my favorite babywearing forums - theBabywearer! Hello gymrat! She made my day by saying she got the Storch from ATB (our Attached to Baby sling shop). :)

To the right is me at MGM Studios, at night with my 3-year old Satori wearing the Sakura Bloom sling. That is the only carrier I brought, and it worked out like a dream. Comfy enough to wear all day, with short stroller breaks (we should have left the stroller at home). Quick-conversion to a leash with an active toddler!

Now, I leave you with a photo of my daughter in our very own Storch! She was a wee little babe when this photo was taken. :)

I have so many things to talk about that don’t belong in my Attached to Baby blog, or my personal/family blogs. Here’s where I hope to share my joy of owning a babywearing business!

This blog will take a few days to point to my special domain I just bought today, and we are going on our first family vacation tomorrow, so look forward to reading in a week!

I’ve been thinking of opening another shop for our Outlet Clearance items, one that won’t accept returns - just our overstocks, clearance returns, retired slings, etc…

Toyed around with the idea of ATB-Outlet.com, but that just doesn’t describe what it is. So I registered www.babyslingoutlet.com and will be moving our Clearance baby slings there.

I never understood why shops did this, some of my favorite sites moved their clearance items off their main site, like www.motherwear.com

But being the techy geek I am, the main reason I’m doing it is to play with new shopping carts! One of my dreams is to build my own “dream shopping cart” - in C#.NET using SQL 2005 database, have it be a highly scalable, robust cart. It would be just a hobby, mostly for myself and friends to use.

For Attached to Baby shop, I’ve used Storefront.NET and BVC5. I love the new BVC5! I also bought AspDotnetStorefront and downloaded some other demos.

But now I’m off to check out a different shopping cart to use for my baby sling shop!

The pride and joy of my business - our baby sling warehouse! The business was able to buy this, our dream home, and 6 acres of rocky mountain beauty. The warehouse is separate from the house and is about 2,500 square feet, completely heated (air conditioning not needed) and all the amenities such a building needs for employees to be comfortable.

Industrial shelves filled with baby slings and carriers run up and down the length of the warehouse, and we have a photography studio setup along one wall. An office with a bathroom is in the corner where we package and slap the postage labels on all the fluffies going out.

I work down there in the office about half the time, and up at my home office the rest of the time.
